Need clarification?

What is a custom branded measurement?

A custom branded measurement is a proprietary scale (usually 18 questions) created very similarly to how the SAT's and ACT are created. We create them to measure things your Agency or Consultancy is interested, such as "Brand Growth" or "Brand Love".

What do you mean by a "model or framework"?

During the first month of our engagement, we work with your internal stakeholder to create something unique to YOUR agency or consultancy. We take a look at your positioning to develop a proprietary framework that fits perfectly with your brand, and the services you offer.

For example, if you go to our "WORK" page, you can take a look at our case for The Sawtooth Group. When working with The Sawtooth Group, we helped create the framework for I-Factor, a measure of brand irresistibility. 

What do you mean by 3 factors?

Factors are the key dimensions or constructs that your scale measures. A 3-factor model means your measurement tool evaluates three distinct psychological components. For example:

  • Factor 1: Emotional Response
  • Factor 2: Cognitive Processing
  • Factor 3: Behavioral Intent

Additional factors allow for more complex and nuanced measurement of your idea or framework.

Is My Project Automated or Customizable?

Your plan determines if you have access to our automated survey options or our customizable survey options. 

  • If you are on a plan that allows for automated options only (e.g., the “Basic Plan” or  “Standard Plan”), this means you are restricted to using our templated surveys. These surveys may have places where you can enter key information (e.g., brand competitors), but will NOT allow for the addition of new questions. 

  • If you are on a plan that allows for automated options OR custom research (e.g., the “Pro Plan”), then you can add questions to our templated solutions or have the team write something from scratch.

We understand that from time to time, our templated solutions may not ask about something you wish to learn about. In an effort to stay flexible, for those on automated only plans (e.g., the “Basic Plan” or “Standard Plan”), we DO allow additional questions to be added to the survey for a fee. However, we DO NOT allow for changes to our templated questions or answers.

What studies are included in my templated-only plan?

At Inkblot, we’re always releasing new templates for our clients to use. For those who are on plans that allow use of our templated surveys, we currently provide access to the following:

  • Assessment Pitch Survey - used when you’re approaching a new business pitch

  • Assessment Standard Study - used when you’re executing a “diagnostic” study with a client

  • Assessment Tracking Study - used when you’re tracking over time, often during campaigns

  • Assessment Testing Study - used when you’re testing new ads or product concepts

  • Assessment Benchmark Study - used when you want to create benchmarks of many brands (e.g., category benchmarks,  top/bottom 15 brands)

What are project timelines?

We offer 3 timelines for our projects:

  • Our Standard Timeline: 7 weeks

  • Our Abbreviated Timeline: 4 weeks

  • Our Rush Timeline: 2 weeks (requires rush fee)

These timelines are built to shorten the standard industry timeline (10-12 weeks) while also providing a good quality product that is USEFUL to your agency clients. As a result, we do not accommodate requests to speed up timelines. 

It’s also important to note that these are INKBLOT timelines. That means these timelines reflect the time it takes the inkblot team to complete the project. If your agency has other tasks around the project (e.g., redesigning the report, adding recommendations, etc), you should build those steps out separately before communicating the timeline to your client. 

What are project deliverables?

What Are Project Deliverables? We offer a variety of deliverables for our projects:

  • Projects on a Standard Timeline get a full report

  • Projects on an Abbreviated Timeline get a results brief

Some clients have asked for a full report after the results brief on an abbreviated timeline (4 weeks). Please note that it is not part of our process to follow up the results brief with a full report. However, in an effort to stay flexible, we can execute a full report after a results brief if you want to count it as the next month's project.

We make all of our deliverables in an INKBLOT template. This allows us to keep to our fast timelines. However, this also means the deliverables are in Inkblot colors, and branded with our Logo. Many of our agency partners redesign this into their own visual design. If you plan on doing this, please make sure you build this into the timeline you communicate to your client.

What are Index Credits?

Measurements are just like cars or people--sometimes they need a "check-up." If you think about the SAT's, they don't offer the same test to every student, every year. They have to update it!

We approach your measurement similarly. Measurement updates are scheduled refinements to your measurement tool based on:

  • New data analysis
  • Item optimization
  • Industry changes
  • Client feedback

Update frequency varies by plan:

  • Base Plan: Annually
  • Standard Plan: Bi-Annually
  • Pro Plan: Quarterly

What are Instrument Credits?

An Index Credit allows you to add brands to Inkblot’s quarterly Index Study and receive updated scores using your custom branded measurement — without running a standalone research project.

Think of it as an efficient way to collect fresh scores for thought leadership, POVs, pitches, or trend tracking.

Instrument Credits are included in your plan based on the following conditions:

  • Base Plan: Annually
  • Standard Plan: Annually
  • Pro Plan: Bi-Annually

What's included in my research plan?
